This is an 'above and beyond' service story. Arrived back on Helijet today and my battery was dead in my parked car. I walked over to Mercury and a great guy came over to my car with a battery and cables, jump started my car and even pointed out I should aware rats were getting under my hood! Four weeks ago I brought my 9.9 Mercury outboard motor for check up to this shop. The problem I was having with my outboard was that it was working perfectly first 5 minutes,then started misfiring when used on higher speed than idle, signal light flickering, eventually stopping completely. I explained my problem to a technician at the shop. I also told him that I replaced spark plugs and a thermostat before - suspecting overheating.
For 2 weeks nobody had time to even look at my motor and then a technician told me that he had to order a part for a carburetor, which took another 2 weeks. Yesterday he phoned me again that my motor is still acting, and he suspected the coil was the problem. Exactly what I was thinking 4 weeks ago and trying to tell them. I am very unhappy with the service at this shop so far. I have lost 4 weeks off the boating season. They should tell me right away they were too busy to check properly my motor before repair.
