When you shop locally, Mary from the corner store can afford to fix her car at the Joe's garage. As a direct result of your purchase dollars, Mary and Joe can take their families for a Friday night meal at a local diner. While their families are young, they can afford to put their kids in sports and take them camping. Later on, their teenagers can attend university or college, and then contribute to the community in a variety of ways. When enough of us shop locally, as twenty-fifth wedding anniversary gifts for each of their spouses, Mary and Joe might even be able to swing vacations of a lifetime.
A writer, marketer and business woman, Joy Ross came up with a fun way to connect residents and businesses online and in person. In June of this year, she developed the West Shore Free Fanfare Market website and social media presence, and booked the Luxton Hall for the last Wednesday of every month.
There are 50 Exhibitors and 50+ Prize Drawings at each market. To keep things fun and interesting, the entertainment lineup includes, a magician, a clown or two, and live music performances by local greats.
As knowledge increases profits, at 12:30 p.m., there's a business keynote speaker.
Admission is free, and free hot dogs are available to the first 100 market-goers at noon and at 6:00 p.m.
To ensure no one leaves empty-handed, every family receives a gift bag loaded with exhibitors' discount coupons and goodies.
